Do NOT go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital.

You do not need to contact 111/us to advise you're staying at home.

Use the NHS 111 online coronavirus service if:

  • you feel you cannot cope with your symptoms at home
  • your condition gets worse
  • your symptoms do not get better after 7 days

NHS England have advised us to move to a total triage service. This means you will not be able to book face to face appointments. A doctor will speak to you and if they feel you need to be seen, you will be given an appointment. Please ring in to book a telephone appointment.

How can you help?

  • Please do not come into the surgery - telephone first
  • Self-manage minor ailments at home.  Click here for advice or look at the When Should I Worry? leaflet
  • Self-certify for the first 7 days off work. Click here for a self-isolation note
  • Request prescriptions online or via SystmOne or NHS
  • If you are expecting a telephone call, please keep your phone near you and answer itThe call will be from a withheld number
  • If you are told to come to the surgery, please come on your own/with one other person if you are unable to come alone. Leave all children etc at home.
  • DO NOT ASK FOR TESTING. This is not available via a GP surgery.

Extended Hours Service

The service is available for GP and Nurse appointments at evenings and weekends - see appointment section.

Appointments

"On line booking appointments" - Please come into the surgery with Photo ID to open an account.

circled_dayWe operate an appointment system and strive to see you as soon as possible. If you have an appointment and are unable to attend please let us know as soon as possible. The surgery also requires that patients arrive on time, as we cannot guarantee we will be able to see you if you arrive late. To book an appointment please use the following numbers:

  • School House Surgery 01273 551031
  • Church Surgery  01273 684500

Any urgent cases will be seen on the same day, please tell us if you are in a telephone box/pay as you go mobile and we will return your call. Say immediately if you feel your call is urgent. For urgent conditions you may be put through to speak to the GP.

If your condition is non-urgent you can expect to speak to a health professional within three working days, though you may have to wait longer if you wish to see a particular GP at a particular time or day.

Please let us know if more than one person in your family needs to be seen as this will require more than one appointment.

Telephone Consultations

If you wish to have a telephone consultation with the doctor you will be given a time to ring the surgery. Please try to keep to these times as there may be several people telephoning within a short space of time.

Practice Nurses

In a number of cases it might be worth considering an appointment with a practice nurse rather than a doctor. Practice nurses are qualified to deal with many conditions and you may be seen more quickly. Nursing appointments are also booked via reception at both surgeries. We normally book one week in advance only.

Chaperones & Interpreters

Tell us if you want someone to accompany you during an examination. We can also arrange interpretation and translation services in person or via the telephone for patients who do not speak English or for deaf patients. Please let us know if you need this service when booking your appointment.

Cancellations

The Practice would always appreciate prompt cancellation of your booked appointment so that these appointments can be offered to other patients in need.  Repeated appointments which are missed without cancellation wastes resources. The practice has a policy in place where we will inform patients when they do not attend or do not cancel.  If this happens consistently, patients may be removed from the practice list.

Extended Hours Service

Through our partnership with Brighton and Hove Federation, patients now have access to additional appointments from 18.30 to 20.00 weekdays and 09.00 to 17.00 Saturday and Sunday.  These include remote and face GP appointment as well as appointments with a nurse, pharmacist or health care assistant.

Specialist clinics are also being planned (e.g. Menopause).  Please refer to Federation website - https://brightonandhovefed.co.uk/enhancedaccess

Access to these clinics is by contacting the surgery in the normal way.  These appointments might be held at a different location to the surgery and are subject to availability.
